Raised flooring is a paneled floor built above a subfloor to house wiring, cabling, air ducts and even piping. It is the reverse of suspended ceilings, and allows for far greater access. A metal framework is first designed and installed, which then supports a set of removable and reconfigurable tiles. These tiles in turn create the new floor, and are fully capable of supporting the weight above.

Using Raised Access Flooring
Not all panels in a raised flooring system will be solid. Some may be vents, and some may be outlet boxes. Raised flooring works best when the placement of these panels is designed to meet the needs of a specific use. Therefore, it is advisable that a plan for the space be in place before the raised flooring is installed.
