Pulse

Range Description

The Pulse Chair from Uchida, Japan is developed together by Hokkaido University and the Physical and Mental Disability Association of Japan.

Functional research on chairs has shifted from just ergonomics and going towards medical engineering that finds a solution which everyone can comfortably sit on for a long time.

The “PULSE” chair supports the three major points of your body, namely: your pelvis, chest and head/neck like hands and arms in holding you in a stable sitting posture. The chairs also have a mechanism that can effortlessly convey the force at the bottom of your feet to your back to allow natural reclining regardless of your physical frame.

This seating comfort was borne in a collaborative development based on the “active fit” theory that was derived from some serious front-line medical research carried out by Hokkaido University and medical research institutes for the disabled, and has achieved a stability and conformity that conventional ergonomics alone could have never realized.

Key Features

1. Pulse Chair positions your pelvis in an upright position so that a stable posture can be maintained.

In order to have a stabilized position, we pay special attention to support pelvises. So in Pulse, the curves between waist and back are lower compared with the ordinary office chairs. Besides, the positions of butts are deeper. On the one hand, this can avoid the displacement of sitting position; on the other hand, this can support the waist and eliminate the crook of body. By this way, one’s sitting positions can be easily adjusted.

Use three curves to stabilize body

In order to stabilize the body, two curves are added in Pulse: one curve behind chest and one curve behind pelvis. We pay more attention to the addition of the third curve.

As the position of thoracic is supported, one can stabilize their sitting positions, and can sit down comfortably.

The shape of sitting is designed in order to give butts a deep sit, so displacement of positions can be reduced.

In order to suit the position of ischium, a deep sit is designed. When you sit down, it can encase the bones softly and make it difficult to change position.

2. Pulse Chair controls displacements and positions your back in a comfortable position while doing various movements naturally.
When you are using the personal computers, you can look upward, horizontally and backward. No matter you recline or change positions, these chairs can meet with any movements; any sitting positions can be supported stably.

Comfortable and stable recline can be realized.

When you recline, you can press the ball of thumb in the inner side of your foot, then this strength can be passed to your back through the trochanter.

In order to pass the little strength of the ball of thumb successfully to the back, we design the curving point at the trochanter.

3. Pulse Chair has advance customization options to adapt to your varying needs.

As all these three types of chairs can be adjusted according to personal shapes and interests, they are aimed at office workers.

You can adjust the hardness of the back of chair and its height when you are seated.
